What is Half-Life 2: The Lost Coast?

Half-Life 2: The Lost Coast is a mission based on the coastal areas of Half-Life 2. The mission will be showcasing a brand new technology for the Source engine called High Dynamic Range (HDR) rendering, and will also mark the release of tools for mod developers to include such effects in their own games.

Lost Coast is actually a level that was supposed to be in the original Half-Life 2 game, but was scrapped for lack of time. Valve wanted to show off its new HDR technology, so put it together with this "lost" level. It takes about 15 minutes to play through, and it's just single-player only. It's not supposed to be difficult to complete, but just show off the new technology. It also has a feature to turn on commentary during the game play to hear about certain aspects of the level. Fun to play through a couple of times, but that's about it. You must have a major fast system to play this. I barely met all the minimum system requirements, and the game will crash on me after about 5 minutes of play every time.
